DORSET & Wilts under-20s begin their Jason Leonard County Championship campaign with a trip to face Somerset on Sunday.

The squad, coached by Martyn Peel, includes eight players from Bournemouth RFC in Ben Goodall, Conrad Carkeet, Connor Hutchinson, Ethan Goudie, Harry Speer, Jordie Wayman, Oli Johnson and Harrison Colton.

"As a team we are looking forward to the challenges ahead," said co-captain Alex Peel.

"We are excited to get started on Sunday, this team has endless possibilities."

Team manager Richard Rees added: "We have made some great memories already in our training camps and training games, particularly last Sunday when we battled through Storm Dennis.

"This has demonstrated the commitment and attitude of the players.

"We can’t wait to get on the pitch and express ourselves as players and as a squad."

For Martyn Peel, this game marks the start of his tenure as head coach.

"The coaching team and squad are excited for the possibilities ahead," he said.

"We are prepared and have a fully fit player pool to select from.

"Somerset will prove to be a tough opener but will give us a proper insight of where we are and what cab br achieved. The excitement is building."

The game kicks off at 2pm at Bristol Harlequins RFC.
