CHERRIES are "contemplating launching a late bid" for Icelandic defender Hólmar Örn Eyjólfsson, according to a report from 90min.com.

The news outlet claims the Levski Sofia centre-back has “caught the eye of a number of English sides” with Cherries reportedly “open to moving” for the 29-year-old before the end of the January window.

Eyjólfsson has played 60 times in all competitions for Bulgarian top-flight outfit Sofia – his previous clubs include the likes of Rosenborg and VFL Bochum.

The defender has also had experience in England. He signed for West Ham in 2008 before being loaned out to Cheltenham Town.

He has won 14 senior caps for Iceland, scoring two goals.
