BOSS Eddie Howe praised Chelsea goal hero Dan Gosling and said: “He has never, ever let me down.”

The all-action midfielder popped up with a sublime 84th-minute winner, hooking the ball home to seal the spoils in a 1-0 success at Stamford Bridge.

The appearance was Gosling’s first league start since April having been sidelined by calf and hip problems.

Asked about the 29-year-old, the boss told the Daily Echo: “I said to him afterwards he has never, ever let me down.

“Every time he plays he is 100 per cent. He’s committed, a real team player, very popular in the dressing room.

“He has had a couple of injuries. He came back into the team today, I felt we needed his work-rate, his honesty, his endeavour on the pitch. He really delivered.”

Cherries have now taken nine points from a possible 15 away to Chelsea since promotion to the Premier League in 2015.

Asked about his side’s impressive record at Stamford Bridge, the boss replied: “It’s been a good ground for us. I’ll try to work it out, I’ve been asked already by a few people.

“I’ve got no idea but hopefully, of course, it continues.

“Whether it’s a feeling that the players, because we have done well here historically, get an extra lift, I don’t know.

“All I can do is judge today’s game and we were excellent.”
