CHELSEA boss Frank Lampard insisted he was happy with his defensive options amid speculation of a possible move for Cherries star Nathan Ake.

The Blues are understood to have a £40million buy-back clause for the Dutch international, put in place when they sold him to the Dorset club in 2017.

But Lampard insisted he was happy with his squad’s defensive personnel and insisted: “At the minute we can do no business.”

Speaking at today’s press conference ahead tomorrow’s home clash with Eddie Howe’s men (3pm), Lampard said: “In terms of the back four, the defence that we have I am very happy and again, it wouldn’t be anything I consider until I feel otherwise.

“We have to worry about Bournemouth tomorrow, Tottenham next Sunday, Southampton, Arsenal, Brighton - then the window opens.”

Ake, who joined Chelsea as a teenager from Feyenoord, is set to miss tomorrow’s battle with a hamstring problem.

Lampard played alongside the Cherries star during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Asked how clever had it been that Chelsea reportedly inserted the buy-back clause for the Dutchman, he replied: “I don’t know how clever it is. It is what it is.

“Nathan came through here and when he has gone to Bournemouth to be able to play regular football, I think he has done fantastically well.

“He’s showed himself a really good defender in the Premier League there.”
