CHERRIES ace Nathan Ake scored his second senior international goal as Netherlands wrapped up their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 5-0 victory over Estonia.

The centre-half partnered Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt in the heart of the defence for the commanding success in Amsterdam, as Ronald Koeman’s men ran out comfortable winners.

Former Chelsea man Ake powered in a header from a Memphis Depay cross after 18 minutes, putting the Oranje 2-0 up after Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum had opened the scoring.

Wijnaldum went on to score a hat-trick for the hosts with substitute Myron Boadu also finding the net three minutes from time.

Netherlands finished second in Group C, two points behind Germany.

Ake, who now has 13 senior international caps, scored his first goal for his country in a 1-1 friendly draw with Italy in April 2018.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale captained England’s under-21s against their Netherlands counterparts – but failed to stop them slipping to a 2-1 friendly defeat.

Ramsdale was powerless to prevent a superb stoppage-time free-kick from Javairo Dilrosun winning the contest in Doetinchem. Mason Greenwood netted for the Young Lions.

Meanwhile, Gavin Kilkenny came off the bench for the final four minutes of Republic of Ireland under-21s’ 4-1 victory over Sweden in a European qualifier in Dublin.
