POPPIES' long wait for victory finally came to an end as they stunned Brockenhurst in Wessex Premier last night.

Leo Cabeleira's side had just one league win to their name this campaign before the visit of in-form Brock, coming into the game on the back on a nine-match losing run.

Just as the game looked to be heading towards a goalless conclusion at Victoria Park, Matt Nicholls popped up with a stunning strike to give Poppies their first victory in any competition since August.

Cabeleira's charges will look to make it back-to-back wins when they host Fleet Town on Saturday.

In cup action, Christchurch progressed through in the FA Vase with a 2-1 success against Badshot Lea.

Priory led at half-time thanks to a Luke Stone goal, but the Combined Counties outfit equalised soon after the break with Brandon Lewington on target.

But Christchurch regrouped at Hurn Bridge, retaking the lead from the penalty spot with Bradley Cherrett dispatching 17 minutes from time.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men late on with Louis Russell given his marching orders as Ollie Cherrett's side closed out a 2-1 win.

They will host Falmouth Town in round three later this month.

Meanwhile, New Milton Town are out of the Bournemouth Senior Cup following a 7-1 thrashing against Hythe & Dibden.
