STEVE Cook admits Jefferson Lerma will be a "big miss" for Cherries at Newcastle, but insists "I wouldn't change anything" about the Colombian's playing style.

Lerma is suspended for the trip to St James's Park on Saturday (3pm) after picking up his fifth caution of the season following an altercation with Anthony Martial during the weekend victory over Manchester United.

But Cook is confident there are players who can step in to fill the void left by the 25-year-old, who has started all but two top-flight matches so far this season.

"It's a big miss," centre-back Cook told the Daily Echo.

"But fortunately this year we've got such a good squad. We've got Dan Gosling back, we've got Lewis Cook, who is looking fantastic.

"Obviously losing Jeff to ultimately a silly booking is tough to take, but suspensions, injuries, they're natural in this game.

"We've got great players waiting in the wings."

He added: "I think Jeff plays the game with such aggression. If you change that, I think you change his game.

"He was outstanding on Saturday, even on a booking. He's full throttle, always looks after his teammates, I wouldn't change anything for him.

"I'm delighted to have that sort of aggression in front of us.

"Every now and again he's going to pick up bookings, I wouldn't change a thing."
