WELTERWEIGHT title holder Gemma Ruegg insists she has had to step her game up ahead of tomorrow locking horns with Bridget Boyle for the Queensbury League Light Welterweight Title.

This will be the first fight for the Bournemouth-based boxer and businesswoman since her stunning victory over Gemma Marten in September.

Ruegg said “I know how hard this is going to be.

“I was very grateful for the media attention I got before but it means there is added pressure on me.

“And whilst Bridget Boyle is untested in this league I know she is a dangerous fighter so I must be careful.

“I train hard all the time but, this time, I have really had step my game up.”

Ruegg also knows there is now added pressure from fans who want to see her succeed and her detractors, who would love nothing more than to see her fail.

The fight will take place as part of the Queensbury Boxing League’s Bad Intention event, which will be held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey.
