BOURNEMOUTH Rugby Club has appointed Richard Sharp as an interim performance director to replace former head coach Will Croker.

The Daily Echo revealed Croker had last week left his position at the Chapel Gate outfit prior to Saturday’s 39-14 defeat at Old Albanian.

Lions have lost all five of their league contests since promotion from South West Premier and sit rock-bottom of the pile without a point this season.

Interim boss Sharp will be assisted by coach Jon Sanchez.

Chairman Phil Sinkinson said: “Bournemouth Rugby Club is currently going through a strategic review which will dictate the future long-term strategy and direction of the club.

“We will endeavour to keep our members and supporters informed of any club changes, upon completion of the strategic review.”

He added: “I would like to thank Will for all the work that he has done at the club over the last five years, a period of time that has seen us achieve great successes both on and off the pitch.

“We achieved promotion last year, which has taken Bournemouth rugby into the National League. Bournemouth rugby is looking forward to an exciting season ahead and continuing to build on the platforms of success we have achieved.”
