DORSET'S Phil Loose clinched his place in the Great Britain squad for the Young Seniors World Team Championship in Miami.

The manager and coach at Wimborne Tennis Club, claimed the British Senior Grass Court Championship at Wimbledon to help book a spot on the plane to Florida.

His success at the All England Club included a 6-4, 6-4 victory over British number one and world number 11 Tom Wride.

He also beat Hugh Jaques on his way to the final as he moved up to number two in the country and a world ranking of 17 in his age group.

On top of his singles success, he partnered his brother Darren and finished runners-up in the doubles, losing to Mark Beim and David Collins 6-2 6-4 in the final.

Phil Loose's hot-streak on court earned his spot in the Great British team for the Florida global showdown, which takes place this month.

He told the Daily Echo: "I’ve had a great year winning a couple of tournaments, playing for England in the Four Nations Cup and winning the trophy and now I will represent Great Britain.

"It’s been amazing and I hope to do well in the individual World Championship too. I would like to thank my sponsor John James Roofing for their support."

The tournament is due to take place between 20-26 October in Miami Beach, Florida.
