TEAM boss Neil Middleditch insisted he was pleased with reserve Thomas H Jonasson - after urging him to enjoy his racing.

The 30-year-old, brought in by Pirates to replace the injured Richie Worrall last month, picked up 6+1 in Poole’s 51-39 victory over Ipswich on Monday.

Former Swedish champion Jonasson recorded a classy victory in heat two when he teamed up with fellow reserve Ricky Wells.

Asked about the former GP rider, Middleditch told BT Sport: “I have been speaking to him and he had been a little bit down

“I said to him ‘just enjoy your racing Thomas, remember when you started you enjoyed your racing?’ On Monday he was.

“He is in a little bit of pain. He had a shoulder injury but he showed some good signs. I was very pleased.

“The reserves have been a concern but they both came to the party on Monday.”
