GOALS from Callum Butler and James King ensured Christchurch recorded a 2-0 Wessex Premier victory at Cowes Sports.

King set the ball rolling for Ollie Cherrett’s side from the penalty spot after just 13 minutes at Westwood Park, before Butler struck home nine minutes after the interval.

Victory meant Priory have picked up seven points from their opening four league games.

Elsewhere in the division, goals from Adam Costello and Mike Gosney ensured Lymington drew 2-2 at Tadley Calleva.

Jude Nwachukwu’s goal proved not enough for Brockenhurst in a 3-1 defeat at AFC Portchester, while Bashley were beaten 1-0 at home to Alresford.

Poppies and Hamworthy United played out a goalless draw at Victoria Park.

New Milton were hammered 5-0 at Whitchurch United. The Linnets are still looking for their first league victory of the campaign after drawing three and losing three of their six games.

Lymington tomorrow host Hayward League Bournemouth Manor in the second round of the Bournemouth Senior Cup.

Hamworthy United make the trip to Romsey Town in the first round of the Sydenhams League Cup, while New Milton travel to East Cowes Victoria.
