CAPTAIN Josh Grajczonek was delighted to seal victory for Pirates at Wolves and said: “Hopefully this is the start of something for us now.”

The Aussie ace was the star of the show for the visitors at Monmore Green, totalling 11 paid 13 which included a vital second behind Sam Masters in heat 15 to earn his side the spoils 46-44.

Pirates had been 10 points ahead after three heats in the midlands before falling two behind after six races in a topsy-turvy tussle.

Assessing the meeting, Grajczonek told Speedway GB: “We started off like a house on fire but the Wolves boys came to the party as well and it was nip and tuck all meeting.

“Middlo (Neil Middleditch) just said we needed to split them in the last one.

“I knew what Sam was going to do going into the first corner. I’d seen it from heat 13 and I just thought ‘right if I just cut back behind him that will hopefully stop Rory’s (Schlein’s) run.”

Victory earned Pirates three league points and lifted them to third in the table.

“We needed to build on our win against Wolves at home last week and hopefully this is the start of something for us now, “ said Grajczonek.
