SKIPPER Josh Grajczonek realises the “pressure” of capturing another SGB Premiership title with Pirates but insisted: “We don’t let that bother us.”

The in-form Aussie charger, who totalled seven paid 11 in Poole’s Supporters’ Cup 49-41 comeback victory at King’s Lynn on Monday, is looking to keep up his impeccable run of silverware with the Dorset club.

In the four years Grajczonek has appeared in Pirates’ one-to-seven, the club has won the league title.

Dubbed ‘Mr Reliable’ by boss Matt Ford ahead of the 2019 campaign, the Townsville-born charger is seeking another league crown in the skull and crossbones.

Poole return to Premiership action tomorrow when they make the trip to Peterborough (7.30pm), having picked up six points from their opening three meetings.

Quizzed on his impeccable run of success with Pirates, the Aussie told the Daily Echo: “Matt keeps putting the pressure on saying ‘you got to keep doing it mate!’.

“Every time I have been here I think Matt’s won the league.

“The pressure is on to retain it as we are reigning champions but we don’t let that bother us. We want to go out there, ride our bikes and do well for the team as well as for our ourselves.

“I think we have a very solid team and we are capable of making the play-offs at least – everyone knows it’s a fresh start from there.

“It’s always hard and speedway is so unpredictable but Matt has always built teams that are up there and I feel we are going to be up there again.”

After visiting the Panthers, Pirates are set to take on Swindon in a bank holiday double header, before hosting Peterborough on Thursday, May 30.
