JAMES Park’s sublime century proved in vain as Broadstone’s clash with Wimborne & Colehill was washed out in the Dorset Premier League.

The number three batsman struck 102 from 121 deliveries, as the hosts racked up 259 for nine from their 50 overs having been asked to bat first at Delph Woods.

Ed Bartlett (3-13) and Frank Turrell (4-60) did the most damage with the ball for Wimborne.

But the contest was forced to be abandoned as the rain hit.

Wimborne had seven runs on the board for the loss of one wicket in reply – James Miller (4) fell to the bowling of Steve Trembath (1-4).

Broadstone picked up 10 points from the contest, while Wimborne recorded nine.
