TOM Killick has secured Poole Town's first new recruit of the summer with left-back Sam Jackson joining from Dorchester Town.

Formerly of Bridport and Weymouth, Jackson completed the switch after only joining the Magpies in November on a dual-registration contract.

Jackson told the Daily Echo: “I’m delighted, Poole are one of the top clubs locally, so it was a no brainer really.

“I’m always looking to progress and learn so being part of an ambitious club and working under an experienced manager was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

“The conversation I had with Tommy was a big reason why I joined due to his ambition, the minimum expectation is to get into the league above.

“My time at Dorchester has helped my development more than I could imagine, I’m a big believer that you play better with better players and this has been the case since I first joined them.”

Jackson’s signing capped off a busy period for Killick as he managed to re-sign Adam Grange and Jack Dickson.

Dolphins also confirmed they have reached an agreement with goalkeeper Luke Cairney for next season.

Earlier this week, Poole secured the services of Marvin Brooks and Corby Moore for the 2019-20 campaign.

“Keeping that core group is massive to build on last year, especially when the group is as talented as it is at Poole,” Jackson added.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the squad as I’ve heard only good things.

“I already know Adam [Grange] and Jez [Bedford] so I’m sure the transition into the group will be seamless.”
