RYAN Fraser has been voted as the 2018-19 Daily Echo/Micky Cave player of the season.

Winger Fraser was the clear winner with 45% of the readers’ votes after a brilliant season for Cherries, claiming 13 Premier League assists, a joint high alongside Eden Hazard, as well as chipping in with eight goals.

The prestigious award has been dominated by defenders in recent years with Nathan Ake and Steve Cook the past two winners but the Scotland international, 25, saw off competition from Ake (23%) and David Brooks (16%) to claim the gong.

Fraser’s campaign got off to a flying start, scoring Cherries’ first goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Cardiff at Vitality Stadium. He also notched his first international goal during a Nations League match for Scotland against Albania in November.

Fraser, who has played in every Premier League match this season, could set a new record for goal combinations if he and Callum Wilson can link up twice more. The pair have assisted each other to score on 12 occasions with 13 the all-time top flight record set by Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton for Blackburn in 1994/95.

Fraser will receive his award ahead of Cherries’ clash against Tottenham at Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
