EDDIE Howe admits it is “not ideal” to regularly change goalkeepers.
Artur Boruc was restored to Cherries’ side for Saturday’s 5-0 win at Brighton, while Asmir Begovic had been favoured in the previous two matches.
Former Chelsea stopper Begovic began the season as first choice but lost his place in January.
Boruc then took the gloves for nine matches before Begovic returned – until Howe opted to bring the Pole back into the side at the Amex.
Howe told the Daily Echo: “I have two very experienced goalkeepers and it’s not ideal to keep chopping and changing the position.
“It’s not something I want to do, but I felt I needed to do it.
“I had no doubts over whichever one I were to pick because of their experience and mentality to their training and their work.”
Discussing the conversation he had with Begovic to explain why he was left out, Howe said: “It was not easy, it never is.
“It’s never enjoyable and is the worst part of the job.
"But I have to say Asmir was absolutely brilliant in understanding the decision and his reaction to it to support his team-mates.”
