BOSS Eddie Howe said it had been a “difficult” decision to switch goalkeepers but insisted Asmir Begovic “deserved” his recall.
The Bosnian international was brought back into Cherries’ starting XI in place of Artur Boruc, following a nine-game Premier League absence.
Begovic could do nothing however to prevent Wes Morgan and Jamie Vardy earning Leicester City a 2-0 victory at King Power Stadium.
Quizzed on the change between the sticks, Howe told the Daily Echo: “I have always said I feel like I have two number ones. Asmir trained very well and deserved to play.
“I have got two very good goalkeepers and they are both very experienced. I have no doubts that they will do a very good job for the team.”
He added: “Regarding the decision on Artur, I spoke to him.
“It’s always difficult because I love and respect every member of the squad. To not pick them is difficult but I have to make the right decision for the team.”
Howe also revealed defender Charlie Daniels had twisted his ankle before being replaced early in the second half.
