PIRATES star Richie Worrall struck a 15-point maximum for Leicester in their hefty Championship Shield win over Redcar.

The Lions dominated to triumph 57-33 as Worrall reeled off five straight wins at Beaumont Park.

Worrall, who doubles up with Leicester and Poole, told the club’s Twitter page: “It was a really good night for me and the club with a good strong win.

“I was on a different engine from last week and it worked really well. It shocked me to be honest.

“I was clutching at straws because I wasn’t happy with the start to the season I had.

“My starts weren’t very good and I didn’t feel my speed was very good at all, so I tried something different and away it went.

“When the engine is working how you want it to, it becomes very easy to ride the bike.”

Worrall is set to make his seasonal bow for Poole in challenge meeting at Somerset on Wednesday (7.30pm).

In Poland, Brady Kurtz registered 16 points from six rides to top score for Rawicz in their 45-45 draw with Bydgoszcz. Pirates skipper Josh Grajczonek totalled 10 paid 11 for the visitors.

Nicolai Klindt scored eight points for Ostrovia in a 47-43 loss against Lodz.
