A REPORT claiming Cherries are considering a £12million bid for Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope is understood to be inaccurate.

Lancs Live reported the 26-year-old, who has only played three times this season after a shoulder injury in August, had fallen behind Tom Heaton in the Clarets pecking order.

The regional title suggested Cherries are "weighing up" a move for Pope this summer.

But the Daily Echo understands links with the Dorset club and the England international are untrue.

Pope made 35 Premier League appearances and kept 11 clean sheets last season after replacing Heaton when he sustained a serious injury.

The former Charlton goalkeeper's form earned him an England call-up in March 2018 before he was selected for the Three Lions World Cup squad and made his debut in a pre-tournament friendly against Costa Rica.

He did not play for Gareth Southgate's side in Russia and featured just three times in cup competitions for Burnley this season.
