SCOTT Mitchell rued wayward attempts at doubles after losing final-leg shoot-outs in two semi-finals in two days.
The Bransgore-based thrower missed double 20 to clinch victory against Wesley Harms before going on to lose 4-3 in the final four of the Isle of Man Masters.
Scotty Dog returned to reach the semi-finals of the Isle of Man Open. However, he lost 5-4 against Scott Waites after again failing to take out double top for the match.
Mitchell told the Daily Echo: “You could say you need a bit of luck on the doubles but it is down to me throwing it in the right place.
“You can miss three darts at a double in the middle of a match and it does not cost you. In those last-leg deciders you have to hit them.”
The 48-year-old failed to reach the latter stages of the Isle of Man Classic after losing to room-mate Gary Stafford in the round of 32.
Mitchell returns to the oche at the end of March for Dorset’s key British Inter-County Championship Division One clash against Cambridgeshire.
