TABLE-toppers Swanage & Wareham powered closer to the Dorset & Wilts One South title with a 55-10 victory at Wimborne II.

Victory earned Swans their 16th win in 17 league matches and extended to 20 points their advantage over second-place Dorset Dockers.

Winger Rory Fergusson touched down for the opening score in the second minute for the visitors.

Swans hooker Joe Scott barged over for the second try four minutes later.

Wimborne scored a penalty goal but on 20 minutes Swans replied when captain Nick Audley forced his way across the try line and Steve Woolley added the extras.

Scott went over the whitewash again to secure a bonus point before half-time. Woolley successfully kicked between the posts for another two points.

The onslaught continued in the second half with winger Lee Hardy touching down twice in the corner in quick succession.

The home side got their only try after a dropped ball in the Swans backs but the Purbeck outfit responded through flanker Joe Desmond’s converted score.

Matt Roberts and Kirk Jones completed the rout with further tries and Woolley added the extras on both occasions.

Swans are back in action when they host Weymouth & Portland at Bestwall on Saturday.
