SAM Surridge admitted time with Cherries' Premier League strikers provided vital knowledge – but learned more from duels against the defensive unit.

The 20-year-old marksman last month rejoined Eddie Howe's squad from his fruitful loan spell at League Two Oldham Athletic.

Surridge had been able to test his goalscoring exploits alongside team-mates Callum Wilson, Joshua King, Lys Mousset and Dominic Solanke.

And he relished the opportunity to compete with them on a daily basis.

Surridge told the Daily Echo: "They have all played in the Premier League and I have been able to experience that from a young age since I started training with the first team.

"You learn from others because they are all good Premier League players.

"I think I learn more from the centre-backs here who you play against. You realise how sharp the game is and the difference to League Two."

Asked if the likes of Steve Cook and Nathan Ake gave him an easy time in training, Surridge said: "They don't but you are improving and you are ready so when it comes to it and you, hopefully one day, make your Premier League debut you are prepared for it."

Surridge was an unused substitute in Cherries' 3-0 defeat at Liverpool and on Saturday could feature against Wolves at Vitality Stadium (3pm).
