SWANAGE Town & Herston recorded a 1-1 draw in a dramatic Dorset Premier League encounter at Sherborne Town reserves.
Aaron Atkinson’s strike earned Tim Brown’s men a point, cancelling out a goal from Jack Baker.
But there were worrying scenes during the encounter when Sherborne’s Sam Farthing sustained a serious head injury.
A post on Sherborne’s Twitter account said: “In our reserves’ 1-1 draw with Swanage, Sam Farthing suffered a fractured skull.
“We wish Sam a very speedy recovery. He’s been sent home from hospital with a follow-up appointment at Taunton Hospital next week.”
The point left Swans 10th in the table. They make the trip to Portland United reserves on Saturday (2pm).
Swans: Beeston, Godwin, Bartlett, Harlowe, Rose-Moore, Clark, Parrott (Beard, 65), Dyke, Bennett, Best, Atkinson. Unused sub: Gregory.
- In Dorset League Division One, Swanage’s reserves recorded their second league win of the campaign – despite losing goalkeeper George Taylor through injury.
Paulo Carvalho fired the Swans ahead at Hamworthy Recreation A before substitute Sam Willcocks donned the gloves after 30 minutes and conceded before half-time. The visitors dug in, however, and got their reward via an own goal to triumph 2-1 and move off the bottom of the table.
Andy Dunster’s troops visit basement side Allendale reserves on Saturday (2pm).
