EDDIE Howe confirmed no bids had been made for Cherries players during the January transfer window and insisted: “The phone was quiet.”

Callum Wilson, Nathan Ake, David Brooks and Ryan Fraser had been linked with moves but the quartet remained at Vitality Stadium.

Asmir Begovic and Lys Mousset’s futures had also been the subject of speculation.

The most intense rumours were regarding Wilson, who had been tipped for a big-money move to Chelsea.

But the striker, who has scored 11 goals in 24 games this season, was not the subject of a formal bid.

Asked if he had been relieved after the window had closed, Howe told the Daily Echo: “Not really, because it had been speculation. It hadn’t been anything we were dealing with internally.

“If we had had a question to answer then that would be different but we didn’t. The phone was quiet, the window shut and we were very pleased.”

Wilson is currently sidelined with a knee injury and will play no part in tomorrow’s trip to Cardiff City (5.30pm).

Jonathan Moss will referee the clash in the Welsh capital. The 48-year-old has shown five red cards in 17 Premier League games this season.
