HOLDERS Bournemouth Manor were 6-2 winners against last season’s beaten finalists AFC Burton in an action-packed MA Hart Pickford Cup quarter-final

There was an explosive start in difficult conditions at Watermans Park, with Burton taking the lead after just two minutes.

A cross from the right was headed home by Levi Ridealgh.

The defending champions were soon back on level terms through Brad Aspin however and after 10 minutes they struck again courtesy of Dave Saunders’s near-post header.

Saunders scored once more on the stroke of half-time and the game was effectively finished for

Burton 20 minutes into the second half.

Defender Dan Hancock saw red for bringing down Luke Scrimshaw in the penalty area.

Skipper Darren Spiers converted the resultant spot-kick and Manor added two more through substitutes John Bastable and Liam Carpenter.

Burton skipper Matty Nicholls reduced the deficit with a well-taken effort.

Shane Sheridan was the four-goal star when Gotham put paid to Bransgore United 5-2 in their fifth-round tie.

They will meet Bournemouth Manor in the semi-final.

Stuart Marshall was the other Gotham scorer with Bransgore replying through Ed Page and Joe Spolander.

Ed Ewens and Ricky Ward netted for Westover Bournemouth but the Hayward Saturday Premier Division leaders had to settle for a point when Ian Musselwhite and Jolyn May earned Bournemouth Electric a 2-2 draw.

Two of the title contenders in Division One went head-to-head and it was honours even.

Goals from Abraham Adesoji, Lucas Gelsleichter and Mustapha Jagne for Bournemouth Electric reserves were cancelled out by Queen’s Park Athletic’s Mike Wheeler, Lloyd Pearce and Stuart Senior in a 3-3 draw.

Portcastrian were two goals ahead after 10 minutes thanks to Damon Cousins and Ben Virabi but Mudeford Men’s Club moved up to second place in the table after coming back to win 3-2.

Goals from Josh Thayne, Alan Etherton, and Liam Welton ensured victory for Mudeford.

Tailenders Burton reserves were on the receiving end of a defeat once more when Bournemouth Sports sank them 2-0. Sam Powley and Mike Oxford were the goalscorers.

Alex Hawey scored twice when unbeaten Gotham reserves shaded it 2-1 against Westover Bournemouth reserves to boost their Division Two promotion hopes.

Rob Answer was the Westover scorer.

All other Hayward Saturday League fixtures were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
