REPORTS that Cherries made a big-money bid for Trabzonspor's highly-rated midfielder Abdulkadir Omur – dubbed the 'Turkish Messi' – are understood to be wide of the mark.

Turkish website Fotospor had claimed that Cherries had made a 9million Euro offer with a further 5m Euro in add-ons and future bonuses but that the bid had been turned down.

But the Daily Echo understands the Dorset club made no offer for the 19-year-old's services.

Omur, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Manchester City, has scored two goals and provided four assists in 16 games this season.

He has three and a half years remaining on his contract.

Omur has played at every youth level for Turkey and recently captained the under-21s in friendlies against Scotland and Norway.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe signed Liverpool frontman Dominic Solanke on a permanent deal last week, while full-back Nathaniel Clyne joined on loan from Anfield.

Following the arrival of Solanke, striker Jermain Defoe switched to Scottish Premiership giants Rangers on an 18-month loan.
