CHERRIES are reportedly set to “dig in their heels” over Callum Wilson amid interest from Chelsea.

Wilson has scored 10 goals in 23 games for Cherries this season, including nine in the Premier League.

Chelsea assistant Gianfranco Zola admitted before Christmas that the 26-year-old was “of interest not just for us but for many”.

Boss Eddie Howe has consistently said Wilson is not for sale.

And the Mirror now reports Cherries are set to “shatter Chelsea’s hopes” of bringing in Wilson as “they don’t need to” sell the frontman, despite the arrival of Dominic Solanke.

AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain is the “top target” of Blues boss Maurizio Sarri this month, according to the tabloid.

Meanwhile, Cherries striker Jermain Defoe has passed a medical at Rangers.

Defoe is expected to join the Scottish Premiership giants on a loan deal until the summer of 2020, which is believed to include recall options in the next two transfer windows.

Former Tottenham star Defoe is tomorrow set to link up with Rangers – bossed by Steven Gerrard – for their mid-season break in Tenerife.
