MATTY Holmes admitted Wimborne Town could be forced to add reinforcements after revealing two more members of his squad faced lengthy spells out with knee injuries.

Jack Lovell is likely to be unavailable until next season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury which requires surgery, while Paddy Hester needs an operation on his meniscus and could miss the rest of the campaign.

Boss Holmes, already without Scott Arnold after the skipper sustained a serious knee injury earlier this month, told the Daily Echo: "We are now missing three big players.

"Bad luck with injuries can strike at any time. We have to batten down the hatches and pull together.

"If there are players on the horizon, we will look to bring one or two more in but there are not a lot of players available."

Wimborne welcome 15th-place Farnborough to Cuthbury on Saturday (3pm).

Holmes could hand a Magpies debut to midfielder Carl Pettefer after he joined from Poole Town.

"He has a lot of experience and we want him to bring leadership to the team," said Holmes.

"We have good young players who can compete at this level but we are falling short without that nous and knowhow.

"Carl has been there and done it, so he is going to be a huge player for us."
