WILL Croker is eager for Bournemouth to stamp their authority on the race for the South West Premier title when they host rivals Ivybridge on Saturday (2.30pm).

Undefeated Lions are seven points clear of the Devon-based outfit, who slipped up in a 31-25 defeat at home to Barnstaple last time out.

But the Chapel Gate director of rugby knows their title challengers will be gunning for victory in what could be a season-defining contest.

He told the Daily Echo: “The players aren’t fools and they know that, if we win this game and stop them getting a bonus point then, potentially, we could be 12 points clear.

“At this stage of the season it would be a lovely place to be. It almost gives you a slip-up margin which, while nobody wants to use it, would be nice to know was in the back pocket.

“We know they will be good. They have some wonderful players including a very talented scrum-half.

“Their pack isn’t the biggest but they pack a punch. They are very well organised and well coached.

“This is the week where, if we beat them, we can put proper ground between us and them.”

Lions have dropped just one point this season, having won all 10 of their league fixtures.
