CHERRIES boss Kevin Bond will keep faith with Asmir Begovic - but has sounded out a warning to the erratic goalkeeper: "No more mistakes."

Begovic is set to keep his place against Carlisle tomorrow, despite coming under fire after his blunder proved costly during Cherries' 4-1 defeat at Swindon six days ago.

His second-half error gifted the lead to Swindon when his intended clearance struck team-mate Paul Telfer before landing at the feet of Robins hat-trick hero Billy Paynter.

It was a major setback for Begovic, who joined Cherries on loan from Portsmouth last month and had been improving with every game following a shaky start to life at Dean Court.

The Canadian's County Ground howler led to calls from some Cherries supporters for the reinstatement of Neil Moss, the man Begovic surprisingly replaced between the sticks.

Ironically, Moss only returned to the fold yesterday after sustaining a facial injury in training a week ago - but would doubtless declare himself fit for a recall against the Cumbrians.

However, having stuck by Begovic following a couple of indifferent early-season displays, Bond says he is prepared to give the highly-rated 20-year-old another chance.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Bond said: "I will stick with Asmir. I think he has been excellent for us.

"I wouldn't do that to him (drop him) on the back of one mistake.

"There was a communication error, he realised that and held up his hand.

"The important thing with youngsters in these situations is that they learn from them. If they do then that's fine but if they don't and it happens again then that's when you've got a problem and that's when he will have a problem.

"He's pulled off some wonderful saves for us and was excellent the week before that and the week before that and you give him the benefit of the doubt.

"You don't need knee-jerk reactions in these situations although you can't continue to have anybody making mistake after mistake. Eventually, you need to do something about it and I know that Mossy is itching to get back when the opportunity arises for him."

Begovic will again be in the firing line when Cherries step out against the high-flying Cumbrians bidding to record their first home league victory of the season (3pm kick-off).

Boss Bond is hoping to have influential defender Josh Gowling available for selection, although midfielder Jean Christophe looks set to be sidelined by a wrist injury.

Max Gradel could also be in line for a recall having returned from compassionate leave. The winger trained yesterday for the first time since returning from the family home in Paris where he had been visiting his mother.

Previewing the clash, Bond said: "It gets to the stage when it doesn't matter how it happens but you just want to get a win under you belt, especially at home. We just need to dig in, show a great deal of resolve, take our chances and make things happen."
