VERWOOD threw away a 2-0 lead to lose to table-topping Calleva.

It means that instead of being only two points behind Tadley, Adie Arnold's boys are eight adrift.

Pete King and Paul Arnold fired Verwood in front and they also hit the bar.

But Calleva levelled with two goals early in the second period and bagged the winner with 10 minutes to go.

Adie Arnold said: "What is disappointing is that is the second time we have been 2-0 up and lost this season, and we've only lost three times.

"We have to realise when we are 2-0 up the game isn't over. We get traumatised when we are two in front."

The turning point came when Paul Arnold limped off with a heel injury and Verwood lost control of midfield.

Verwood: Fawcett, Freeman, Lynch, Yerby, Homer, Dyer, Faulkner, P Arnold (Newbury 47), Elysee, King (Beverley 70), Goodall. Unused sub: Giles.
