CHERRIES extended to five games their unbeaten run after Callum Wilson’s double and David Brooks’s cool finish handed them a 3-0 Premier League victory at 10-man Fulham.

Striker Wilson stroked low past goalkeeper Sergio Rico from the spot 14 minutes in after he had been felled by Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

And Brooks doubled the lead when he fired under Rico midway through the second period, capping a brilliant counter-attack.

Fulham’s task was made even tougher when skipper Kevin McDonald was shown a second yellow card with 17 minutes left.

Wilson completed the scoring when he blasted home a first-time effort, taking Cherries to within a point of the Champions’ League places.

Visiting boss Eddie Howe opted to make one change and bring in a new shape following the stalemate with Southampton.

Out went sidelined frontman Joshua King, with Charlie Daniels recalled for his first start in two months following a knee injury.

King had played through an ankle problem against Southampton but did not make the matchday squad this time.

Cherries switched to a 3-4-3 formation, with defender Simon Francis moving into a central role.

Fulham made three changes, goalkeeper Rico, Fosu-Mensah and Aboubakar Kamara replacing Marcus Bettinelli, Calum Chambers and Stefan Johansen.

Cherries had a defensive scare as early as the fourth minute. Jean Michael Seri clipped a diagonal ball over the top and Kamara slipped between Daniels and Nathan Ake but, off-balance, nodded onto the roof of the net.

Soon after, Adam Smith robbed Andre Schurrle and broke forward before feeding Brooks, who in turn found Ryan Fraser. The Scotland international’s stroked effort was comfortably saved by Rico.

Fulham fans found their amusement at Smith losing his footing shortlived when referee Andre Marriner pointed to the spot seconds later.

Fosu-Mensah was judged to have brought down Wilson and the former England under-21 star duly sent Rico the wrong way from the spot.

Fulham wanted a penalty of their own when Kamara crashed to the deck after goalkeeper Asmir Begovic slid in. But replays showed no contact had been made, with Kamara booked for simulation.

Begovic beat away a powerful half-volley from Schurrle before Wilson saw a couple of headed opportunities pass by, the second flying over from Francis’s cross.

Fulham’s frustrations were summed up when Seri’s short corner was ballooned hopelessly into the stand by World Cup-winner Schurrle.

Daniels’s deflected drive looped kindly into Rico’s gloves and the hosts spurned a glorious chance seven minutes before the break. From Seri’s outswinging corner, Denis Odoi found space at the near post but nodded powerfully wide.

Kamara rounded off the half by doing the same at the left upright.

The start to the second half was low-key until Francis’s rasping half-volley from range brought a flying save from Rico – denying the skipper his first Cherries goal in more than four years.

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic had been feeding on scraps and he was afforded a rare chance from Fosu-Mensah’s floated cross, only for his header to drop wide.

The home side were starting to cause regular problems and Kamara fizzed high and wide from a tight angle.

However, Cherries increased their lead with 20 minutes left. Wilson slid in to win a 50-50 ball in midfield and Fraser bombed on before playing in Brooks, who slotted through Rico’s legs.

Matters got even better for the visitors when McDonald was shown his second yellow card for bringing down Brooks.

And Kamara, who had been treading a fine line since being cautioned in the first half, was fortunate to escape a second booking for kicking the ball away.

Mitrovic smashed well over and five minutes from time, Wilson wrapped up the win. Fraser’s pass set him clear and the former Coventry City man fired emphatically home at the near post.
