MARVIN Brooks described as “gutting” the feeling of missing out on one of the biggest games in Poole Town’s season.

The Dolphins star is suspended for tomorrow’s FA cup fourth qualifying round clash with Isthmian Premier Haringey Borough having picked up two bookings in the competition.

Skipper Jamie Whisken is also out of the crucial showdown, in which £25,000 and a place in the first round proper is up for grabs.

Dolphins could take on the likes of former winners Portsmouth, Sunderland or Coventry should they overcome Tottenham-based Haringey.

But with Brooks left kicking his heels on the sidelines, he could not help but speak of his frustration.

He told the Daily Echo: “It’s gutting because we have got so close in my earlier years playing at the club. I felt like this was our biggest opportunity.

“We seem to have either let ourselves down in the cup or drawn a team that were just too powerful for us when we got to this stage.

“This draw seemed to be really favourable to us but now we have been hit with, not only myself, but the skipper in Jamie being suspended as well.

“It’s a massive blow for us as players. I have not played in the FA cup first round proper and it’s something I am desperate to do.

“I am hopeful the lads can pull off a win or at least a draw to bring them back to our place so that I can contribute.

“I definitely have my fingers, toes and everything I can possibly have crossed.”
