DORSET'S Scott Mitchell will be hoping to maintain his impressive form when he takes his chance in the 2018 Bwin Grand Slam of Darts next month.

The 2015 BDO world champion returns to Wolverhampton for a fourth successive year and will duel with the cream of the PDC for the £450,000 prize pot.

Bransgore-based Mitchell was crowned BDO Gold Cup champion earlier this year and also reached the semi-final of the World Masters at the start of October.

He was pipped for a place in the knockout stages of last year's Grand Slam after losing a thrilling final group game 5-4 to England's Stephen Bunting.

Mitchell, who thrashed Adrian Lewis 5-1 in 2016, also lost to Dave Chisnall 12 months ago before winning his second group game 5-3 against Jeffrey de Zwaan from the Netherlands.

Current world champion Glen Durrant and 2018 runner-up Mark McGeeney lead the charge for the BDO as the number one and two seeds on the rankings.

Adam Smith-Neale’s recent success at the World Masters earned him his first Grand Slam appearance, along with 2018 BDO International Open winner Jim Williams.

The BDO contingent will join 24 top PDC players, including current world champion Rob Cross and defending Grand Slam champion Michael van Gerwen.

The event takes place at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton between November 10 and 18 and is on Sky Sports.
