TOM Killick spoke of his “disappointment” at the situation surrounding midfielder Franklyn Clarke’s Poole Town exit.

The Dolphins boss confirmed the former York City professional had had his contract cancelled by the club.

Clarke signed for Poole from Blackfield & Langley during the summer.

His final appearance came during the Southern League Cup first round penalty shootout victory over Dorchester Town earlier this month.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “Franklyn started the season playing and, lately, he hadn’t played as much. He felt he wanted to go somewhere where he was going to play regularly.

“His contract has been cancelled, so he will be free to sign with another club.

“I’m not disappointed in him, I’m just disappointed in the situation because I felt he was a good signing for us and would have proved to be effective and helpful going forward.

“But you have to respect his decision and we wish him well.”

Clarke is understood to be a target for both Wimborne and Dorchester, two of his former clubs.

Dolphins are tomorrow set to host a Taunton Town outfit who have impressed since moving up to Southern League South this season (3pm).

Having stormed to the Southern League West title with 103 points, the Peacocks have gained 17 points from their opening nine fixtures and sit second in the table.

“They have quite a few players I know of because there is a big Truro connection,” said Killick.

“I look at their team-sheet and know most of their players. Most of them have played National South football and they are a well-resourced club at the present time, they seemingly have ambition to progress through the leagues.

“But we are finally getting a little closer to where we need to be in terms of our confidence levels I think. Hopefully that will stand us in good stead on Saturday.

“They have Keith Emmerson who used to be with us – from a social point of view it will be great to see him.”

Dolphins are eighth in the table, four points below Taunton having played a game fewer.

They are once again set to be without Will Spetch as he recovers from a serious knee injury.

Striker Korrey Henry’s initial one-month loan from Yeovil Town has also expired.

Giving an update on the Henry’s situation, Killick said: “The month is up now unfortunately. When we spoke to Yeovil they weren’t sure they were going to be in a position to let him out at this stage.”

Victory for Dolphins on Saturday could move them up to sixth in the table.

To mark national non-league day, the clash is 'pay what you want' for spectators, while Wave 105 presenter Steve Power, a Taunton fan, will be in attendance.
