WIMBORNE ran in six tries to scupper the unbeaten record of Old Centralians in South West One East.

The Minstermen recorded their second league win of the campaign with a 40-7 victory at Leigh Park.

Centralians made all the early running with Wimborne finding it difficult to break out of their own half.

But the hosts’ stern defensive effort seemed to suck energy out of Centralians and they came to life with three unanswered tries in eight minutes.

First, after a Centralians attack broke down, Lewis Munster ran from deep to outstrip the cover.

A further counter-attack ended in Ryan Morrell crashing over and in the final minute of the half Jack Young was allowed to run in unopposed.

All three tries were converted to give Wimborne an improbable 21-0 half-time lead.

The visitors did manage to record a converted score out wide following the interval to reduce to 14 points the deficit.

But Wimborne showed their staying power with three further tries to which Centralians had no answer.

After the hosts’ best passing move of the match, Morrell scored his second.

And 10 minutes from time Paul Roberts and Munster worked a switch with the latter darting in under the posts.

Munster crossed again to secure his hat-trick late on with the conversion bringing up a 40-point haul.
