NICOLAI Klindt admits his career prospects in 2019 will provide him with added motivation to perform for Pirates in tomorrow’s SGB Premiership play-off semi-final.
The popular Dane, signed in May as a replacement for Stefan Nielsen, is desperate to impress in the second-leg clash with Somerset at Wimborne Road.
And beyond the obvious target of a place in the final, Klindt wants to give boss Matt Ford a reason to turn to him again next year.
He told the Daily Echo: “It doesn’t matter what league it is, play-off meetings are a must-win.
“There are more eyes on the play-offs. It is televised and there are more supporters.
“If you have a good performance, it will make a difference for your chance of a contract the following year.”
Klindt has secured play-off glory in the top flight on one occasion, helping Wolverhampton defeat Swindon in the final nine years ago.
He said: “We won it in 2009 and I don’t think I’ve been in a final since then.
“I haven’t ridden in teams which were good enough or haven’t ridden for any teams at all.
“Hopefully, I will manage to do it with Poole.”
