BRANSGORE'S Scott Mitchell reached the quarter-finals of the England Masters in Selsey.
He was defeated 4-3 by Scotland’s Ross Montgomery.
The former Lakeside world champion had seen off James Clifton (4-1), Keelan Kay (4-0), Craig Brown (4-1) and Martin Adams (4-1) en route to the last eight.
Mitchell fared less well in the England Classic, going out at the last 64 stage.
The number-four seed beat Ben Hazel 4-1 and Billy Bristow 4-0 before losing 4-3 to Robert Collins.
Mitchell made it to the semi-finals of the England Matchplay where he was beaten 4-3 by Kyle McKinstry despite recording a 101 average.
The Dorset county star had previously seen off Jeffrey Sparidaans 4-3 in the quarter-finals.
