TOM Killick thinks a few sides might slip up at Hayling United after his Poole Town players were made to scrap for three points on Saturday.

The league leaders pulled clear of their nearest rivals Cowes Sports and Romsey Town, both of whom failed to win at the weekend, after their 3-1 victory.

But Killick admitted Hayling was a tougher place to visit than he had imagined.

"We didn't have things all our own way," said the Dolphins boss.

"It's a very small pitch over there and we found they do have an awful lot of enthusiasm.

"We went 3-0 up and perhaps relaxed a bit but it was a difficult game."

Killick had a warning for other teams in the division.

He said: "I'm quite relieved to get it out the way this early in the season.

"It could be a tricky place to go when the pitch deteriorates.

"They were certainly better than I was expecting. It was much tougher than some of the other games we've had lately."

Dolphins led 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Karim Benssouada and Sean Hogan, with Stuart Brown getting their third after the break.

Killick didn't think any of his players stood out in a below-par performance.

"We didn't really play that well, there wasn't anyone I'd say had a particularly good game," he admitted.

"We did enough to win and that's probably about it."

The Poole boss isn't getting too carried away with his side's position in the league at this early stage in the season.

He said: "Everyone will say there's still an awful lot of games and things can change quickly and dramatically.

"We're mindful of that and need to carry on.

"With it all being so tight, if you have a couple of adverse results the table looks very different."

Poole Town: Frampton, Whiteley, I Richardson, T Richardson, Hogan, T Smith, Funnell, C Smith, Culliford (Yelland 70), Brown (S Smith 60), Benssouada (Cannie 70).
