DESPITE holding high-flying Cowes Sports to a goalless draw, Trevor Parker was disappointed his New Milton Town side did not pick up maximum points.

Going into the game without a Premier Division victory, Parker admitted he would have taken a draw before kick-off, but he then watched on as his charges squandered three second-half opportunities to claim victory.

"Once again, we were so close. Once again we had three one-on-ones in the second half but didn't convert," Parker told the Daily Echo.

"We're so close to doing something now - it will happen one day.

"If we'd have converted our chances we were worth a win. The first half was very even but we were the better side in the second half."

Parker has plenty of confidence in his team, who have just three draws from their eight fixtures so far.

He said: "I've got no doubt whatsoever that any time, any game, we're going to start and we'll be a match for anybody in the league."
