CHERRIES fans shouldn't hold their breath for player signings, with Kevin Bond not envisaging any new arrivals in the immediate future.

Rather like a busy Bournemouth nightspot, the Cherries supremo is having to adopt a one in, one out policy. Bond is permitted to make loan signings after the post-transfer window seven-day cooling off' period expired on Saturday.

But he revealed he is unable to bring any new faces in to bolster and improve the League One outfit until space is made in his squad.

"The only way I could get someone in is to get someone out," Bond told the Daily Echo.

"I'd like to strengthen but I'm comfortable with all the players at the club. But if I could improve us I would, not unlike any manager in the country."

However, he doesn't expect to welcome new faces imminently.

"It will depend if any of the players ask to go on loan or any clubs ring up and request any," said Bond.

"If that were to happen and all parties were agreeable then a player would go on loan."

Cherries have recently been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur right-back Phil Ifil and Bond admitted he had enquired about the 20-year-old prospect, who has spent time on loan at Millwall previously.

"I've had contact with the agents with regard to it," confessed Bond. "It's a name that's been mentioned to me and he's a player who has played Premiership football."

The north London club may well be willing to do business, with the England under-20 international well down the White Hart Lane pecking order.

Pascal Chimbonda is the first choice, with Paul Stalteri and Ricardo Rocha also regularly selected ahead of Ifil, who has made three Premier League appearances since his 2004 debut against Liverpool.

Bond doesn't have a shortlist drawn up of potential signings.

He said: "I'm not particularly looking to strengthen that position (right-back). I haven't got any specifics (targets) at this moment in time. It's a very loose thing, I think the likelihood of someone going out is slim."

If Ifil were to arrive at Dean Court, it could add spice to Cherries' league fixtures against Swindon, for whom his elder brother Jerel plays at centre-back.

Bond has already shown his adeptness in the transfer market after a busy summer that now sees a big number of recent recruits adorning the Cherries first team. Of the 11 who lined up to face Port Vale last week, eight were newcomers, whether loan or permanent signings.
