CHERRIES star Ryan Fraser revealed he had played through the pain barrier during the final month of the season.

Fraser showed his versatility by filling in at right-back and right wing-back in the closing stages of the campaign.

The 24-year-old deputised admirably after Adam Smith had sustained a knee injury during the 2-1 win over West Brom in March.

Fraser netted five Premier League goals in 26 games and finished third in the voting for the Daily Echo-Micky Cave supporters' player-of-the-year award.

His winner against Swansea in Cherries' final home game made it his most productive in terms of league goals since he joined Cherries in 2013.

Fraser's exploits came as he nursed a nagging hamstring complaint which has forced him to withdraw from the Scotland squad for upcoming friendlies against Peru and Mexico.

The winger told the Daily Echo: "I have been struggling so much with my hamstring.

"I have just been training once or twice a week and trying to get through games because it is the end of the season.

“I have been struggling with it for about a month."

Fraser, capped three times by his country, will stay behind when the Tartan Army embark on their Latin America tour.
