JACK Leach claimed his maiden Test wickets but could not prevent England suffering a 1-0 series defeat to New Zealand.
The former Dorset spinner got off the mark when his delivery to Ross Taylor was mis-swept to Alastair Cook, who had just been brought up from the boundary to a catching position at backward square-leg.
Left-armer Leach also dislodged Tom Latham (83) when the stubborn opener top-edged a sweep and James Vince, haring in from the deep, pouched a superb diving catch.
Leach ended with figures of two for 61 from 31 overs, with New Zealand's second innings of 256 for eight ensuring a draw in the second Test in Christchurch.
The Somerset star, who helped Dorset win the Minor Counties title in 2010, was called up for the tour as a replacement for Mason Crane.
Alongside two wickets, he contributed 30 runs across England's two innings, including an unbeaten 14.
England ended the winter without a victory in Test cricket, having lost the Ashes 4-0.
