PIRATES fans can have a go at making the big calls when the Riders' Equipment Fund holds a night dedicated to refereeing.
Titled 'Inside the Referee's Box', Wednesday's event at Poole Speedway's Champs Bar will give a comprehensive insight into a meeting from an official's perspective.
Christina Turnbull, a well-known and likeable figure on the SGB Premiership circuit, will provide insight into her experiences of decision-making.
Discussing what would be in store, Pirates presenter Nigel Leahy said: "Speedway Control Bureau coordinator Neil Vatcher is cooperating with me and we will be going through the theory and instruction, very close to the standard experienced at a referees' seminar.
"We will also invite the audience to vote on decisions in real time, from a selection of races on the big screen.
"We hope to demonstrate what a referee does before, during and after a meeting in a dynamic and refreshing presentation. It promises to be one of the most intriguing events the REF has undertaken, with plenty of lively debate likely."
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Admission is £5 with a £1 discount for REF members.
Pirates' press and practice is set to take place on Wednesday, March 21 with the club's season-opening 70th anniversary meeting going ahead 48 hours later.
