HANS Andersen finalised a move to Leicester before insisting he had never been concerned about missing out on an SGB Premiership team spot.
The experienced Dane, who captained Pirates to the play-off semi-finals in the past two seasons, had been permitted to speak to other clubs.
Poole boss Matt Ford last week admitted a "final discussion" would take place with Andersen prior to any departure from Wimborne Road.
But the 37-year-old's exit has since been sanctioned and he will take his place in a septet which includes Grand Prix star Martin Vaculik, Krystian Pieszczek and Danny King.
Andersen told the Lions website: “I was never worried about missing out as I had various teams asking for my services. And I still think I’ve got a lot to offer British speedway on and off the track.
“I’m looking forward to the season with Leicester. It’s a new challenge but the team looks strong and competitive which is very important for me.
“It’s vital we have a good season for the fans and the management and I think the new-look side looks promising.
“I want to help my teams to success. Winning becomes a habit and that’s something I aim to take with me.
“I’m sure I can help the younger riders at Leicester. I have a lot of time for those that listen.”
