THE last unbeaten record in the league has fallen after Poole Town served up the surprise result of the weekend with a convincing demolition of league leaders Parley.

Although Poole Park was deemed unfit for play, the home side switched the venue to Whitecliff and made a terrific fist of the innings after being put into bat.

Jamie Bennett, who struggled for form in the early weeks of the season, made a diligent 52, while Phil Harris (78) got Poole through a difficult spell of bowling from Mick Ridgewell (4-45).

With Ben Dyson (20) and Rich Armstrong (27) adding some fast runs, Poole set a decent 214-7 total.

But Parley's young line-up failed to get to grips with the artificial wicket as Kristian Wilson (3-39) tore into the batting order.

Only Ridgewell (26), Thomas Jacques (21) and Raj Naik (20) made any significant headway with the bat as Parley crumbled to 136 all out.

Although Parley saw their title hopes dented by the loss, Naik is still confident that the youngsters can respond in the right way.

He said: "We've got good, young players in the Sunday side and that is the first defeat.

"I think we still have an excellent chance of winning the title, but we need to bounce back against Cranborne this weekend."

Bournemouth's inconsistent run continued with a four-wicket loss at Henstridge in a slow-paced clash.

The visitors failed to get their innings into gear, registering just four boundaries in their 45 overs as they limped to 127-7.

Simon Ridley (27 not out), Ian Pearce (26) and Will Old (23) all made starts but failed to go on and make the necessary impact, leaving Henstridge the relatively easy task of knocking off the target.

Although Grant Mather (3-27) put the brakes on the innings, Henstridge's Pete Anyan (32) and Graham Hipworth (30) batted sensibly as the home side got home in the 32nd over for the loss of six wickets.

Second-placed Studland kept up the pressure on leaders Parley with a crushing 116-run win over Christchurch to close the gap at the top.

After blasting 253-5 from their overs, Studland then turned in a fine bowling performance to skittle the Priory boys for just 137 all out.
