MANAGER Eddie Howe is confident Jermain Defoe will be fit for Cherries’ Premier League curtain-raiser at West Brom on Saturday.
The striker missed Cherries’ final pre-season friendly against Napoli on Sunday due to a minor groin injury.
Defoe felt some discomfort after playing 67 minutes of Cherries’ 1-0 defeat by Valencia seven days earlier.
Howe told the Daily Echo: “Jermain just felt some tightness in his groin after the Valencia game.
“He hasn’t trained since but we are confident he will be fit for West Brom.”
