DORSET under-18s retained the team shield at the Four Counties' Junior Championship at Weymouth Golf Club.

Mark Perry's youngsters beat Devon into second by 15 strokes, Broadstone GC's Jacob Hunter earning the individual title with a level-par 70.

The hosts then faced Cornwall in the first of three Inter-County Match Play Championship clashes.

There was a singles victory for Broadstone's Oscar Perry and Parkstone GC pair Tom Seville and Sam Atkins wrapped up a 4-3 win in the foursomes.

Against Somerset, Dorset were beaten 4-3 with five matches going to extra holes. Hunter and Parkstone GC's Morgan Taylor came out on top after 24 holes in the foursomes.

The home team needed to win 6-1 against Devon to snatch the title but could only triumph 4-3, handing the latter outfit overall victory.

Hunter and Oscar Perry secured singles success and Atkins and Seville earned a point in the foursomes.
